Sunlite’s Journey: How a Copper Recycling Company in Gujarat Reached NSE Emerge
A small manufacturing unit was set up in 2012 in Kheda, Gujarat, which manufactured only one thing, which was Oxygen Free Copper Rods, with a capacity of 250 MT per month. After 12 years of this venture, the company opened its IPO to the public and got listed on the NSE Emerge.
That company is Sunlite Recycling Industries, a copper recycling company in Gujarat built on one simple idea: copper does not need to be mined every time. Recovered from scrap and refined properly, it does the same job in wires, conductors, and earthing systems.

The quality of a copper rod is decided long before it reaches the furnace. It starts with the scrap.
Sunlite imports copper scrap from nine countries. Sourcing from several markets keeps raw material supply steady and gives the plant more control over input quality. By its own account, Sunlite was the second-largest importer of copper scrap into India in 2023.
For a buyer, this matters for a practical reason: consistent scrap means consistent rods, batch after batch. More on Sunlite’s import page.
Growing Copper Production Capacity, One Step at a Time
By 2015, output had reached 400 MT a month. In 2016, Sunlite moved beyond rods and added copper earthing strips, earthing wires and conductors. The biggest jump came in 2019, when new machinery from Germany and China took capacity from 400 MT to 2,000 MT a month.
Since then, the plant has added dedicated lines for ATC wire and copper busbars. Today, Sunlite’s total annual copper production capacity is 30,260 MT:

The Kheda plant manufactures:
These products serve power generation, transmission and distribution, and electronics, where conductivity and consistency are non-negotiable.

Why Recycled Copper Makes Sense
Copper can be recycled again and again without losing its electrical properties. That is what makes copper scrap recycling in India worth building a business on.
The energy case is just as strong. Producing copper from scrap uses up to 85% less energy than producing it from mined ore. That means less mining and less landfill waste, with no compromise on the end product.
For Sunlite, sustainability is not a side note. It is how the business works. More on the sustainability page.
The NSE Emerge IPO and Listing
In August 2024, Sunlite opened a ₹30.24 crore IPO from 12 to 14 August, priced at ₹100 to ₹105 per share. The issue was subscribed over 260 times. Shares listed on NSE Emerge, the NSE’s platform for small and medium enterprises, on 20 August 2024.
The funds were raised to buy and install new plant and machinery. The listing was not the finish line; it was fuel for the next phase of growth. Investor updates are on Sunlite’s investor page.
What This Means for Copper Buyers
A listed company works under public disclosure and regular reporting. For buyers sourcing copper rods and wires, that adds a layer of transparency to the supplier relationship.
Add a dedicated import network, large-scale annual capacity, and years of steady growth. The result is a supplier that can handle both scale and consistency.

The Road Ahead
Sunlite’s story so far is about doing a few things well and building on them: better scrap, better rods and more capacity, then a public listing to fund the next stage.
As demand for copper in power and electronics keeps rising, Sunlite has already shown it can scale to meet it.
